asmākaṃ tu viśiṣṭā ye tān nibodha dvijottama nāyakā mama sainyasya saṃjñārthaṃ tān
Know further all those who are our c best of the twice- born, tho lea these I name
to thee for thy information
O Superior among the twice born, let me tell you about the most distinguished leaders
of my own army, so that you will be able to locate them and remember them during
“Know also, O best among the twice-born, the names of those who are the most distinguished
amongst ourselves, the leaders of my army! These I name to thee for thy information.
" But know, O best of the twice-born, who are the most distinguished among us, the
leaders of my army; these I name to thee by way of example.
Hear also, O Best of the twice-born! the names of those who (are) distinguished
amongst ourselves, the leaders of my army. These I relate (to you) for your information
Yudhamanyu, Uttamouja, Soubhadra and the sons of Droupadi, famous men. The leaders
of my army. I will name them for you.
Also there are many heroes on my side who have risked their lives for me. I shall
name few distinguished commanders of my army for your information. He named all
the officers of his army, and said: They are armed with various weapons, and are
skilled in warfare. (1.07-09)
On our side, too,--thou best of Brahmans! see Excellent chiefs, commanders of my
line, Whose names I joy to count:
Hear, however, O best of regenerate ones, who are the distinguished ones among us,
the leader of army. I will name them to thee for (thy) information.
And now, O best of Brâhmanas! learn who are most distinguished among us, and are
leaders of my army. I will name them to you, in order that you may know them well.
However, our own men, the most distinguished— learn about them, 0 Best o f the Twice-Born.
To inform you, 1 w ill tell you the names o f those who are the leaders o f my forces
Know also our chiefs, O best of twice-born, the leaders of my army. These are their
